Hey guys, I was thinking of getting strobes put on my truck, you know the kind that are totally hidden and invisible til you turn em on like a cop. obviously Im pretty sure the only colors that would be legal to use are yellow and white but whatever. just Im not sure how much it would cost. Any ideas or pics?

I put some in but i have a bad control box so they aren't working right now. I mounted them on the sides of the radiator so it would flash through the grill at night. Don't get the ebay garbage like I did. The tempature changes up here killed my box in the cold.

i know you cant have flashing anything in NC except factory hazards...thats an instant ticket....or worse...arrested for impersonating the police....

 

Most of the cops around where i am in NY are kind of relaxed on some of this stuff. I mean if it's dark out and you happen to roll up or just be the first on scene the more lights to get the attention of drivers is helpful. Also sometime without lights flashing it's hard for emergency vehicles to locate the scene. If it wasn't for my lightbar our ambulance would have had to waste time calling for crossroads and slow down looking for the address.

 

i have federal signal viper s2 above my mirror (R&B) and federal signal hide-a-way strobes in all corners(clear) and Federal Signal wig-wags, along with a Signal Star Siren and PA

to do it right and not use ebay crap its pretty expensive. the vipers run about 200, the haw and wigs are like 600 for the whole package and the siren combo with speaker is about 4-500.

and yea....never use on public roads. you dont know whos undercover these days, or off duty. I save for private property.

 

what exactly do you use them for??

 

aside from being metro's unmarked demonstration unit....whatever i want. underage parties? no problem. parking lot fight? not for long. little juveniles playing in the street? not after 100w of wail goes through their ears.

you know. stuff like that. my favorite is when im going the speed limit IN A NEIGHBORHOOD OR SCHOOL ZONE! and some dude or female on their phone or just plain stupid. flys by me in the middle lane. bet they wont do that again
