I'm thinking I could probably switch my AEM filter for the Spectre since it looks like it gets better airflow. Are these filters pretty durable?

Yes, my filter is almost crush proof. I wrapped my hands around it and squeezed hard. I couldn't get it to collapse.

I have read that warm air is still better than stock air. In relation to airflow and CFM readings.

i use the spectre stuff for my CAI. they sell a " one size fits all" kit with a length of straight pipe and a 45*, i added a 90* off the throtle body, down to the stock intake location ,and a filter. it works OK but ive never ran with a K&N so i cant compare. better than stock though.

Looks good, now you need a functional hood scoop to keep cool air on it. I made a couple of extensions and ran my IAT outside the frame on the drivers side.

That has to do with the efficiency in fuel concerved vs mileage. Cold air produces more power, is better for piston rings and delivers more oxygen to the mixture.

Before the supercharger I had made a ram air box for my hood scoop and loved it. One of my favorite mods.
