cv shaft is bad. my dakota has been doing it for months. it causes a good vibration on the slow end of thing but goes away. and it clicks and crunches and you feel it in the wheel. greased the hell out of it and it went away now its back again. so im gonna replace it. there not that much and the front end if torn apart already for the motor swap and i just picked up a set of super swampers too.

thats what I was leaning towards because I can feel it in the wheel and the seat of my pants....how do I tell if its the inboard, outboard, drivers or passengers side?? Hard to believe because the boots are pristine.

Nope. Never took t to the stealership
..still diagnosing...

And have not spent a dime yet....

The motor issue is resolved. Now im on to a problem that happened just before the motor issue I thought would take dealer intervention to repair.

So....thanks for your continued support. lol

normally we just lift all for tires clear of the ground and get the truck rolling at about 20 to 20 mph and crank off the wheel (locked in 4x4 of course) normally just walking around the truck you can tell where the clicking and popping is coming from. other then that i would say the drive tire which is normally the right front.

right side is where it is coming from...but still...replace the whole thing?? how could it go bad just like that? Like I said, the boots are like new....no leaks anywhere...no "hard wheeling"....what do I replace?

the cv shaft runs from the fron dif in to the wheel bearing normally when i do them i do the bearing and cv shaft and clean the brake webbing and lub the slides so the brakes are working properly and a new axle nut. i also buy the new cv shaft not the reman one. it costs a little more but it comes with the limited life time and why the way i drive off road i need that lol
