how bad is it?
I think I would just take my chances and do nothing. If it passed great no cost, if it causes damage well it will cost about the same as exploratory surgery any way.Unless one was to do it their self.
Here's an idea. Find a shop that has a scope and pull the plugs and shove the scope in there to see if you can find any damage or piece of the grommet. Then if there is something pull the heads, if you dont find anything then take your chances and pray it worked itself out.
well, after this morning when it had a super bad idle (I mean like it was running on 5 cylinders), it has not acted up. There is no more noise or vibration. Power is back to normal. I think it passed through. My guess is it got caught in the tb first because I had a really high idle for awhile and it threw a code for the idle, then it probably got stuck in the intake valve for awhile but since it was rubber, the valve was able to close enough that it did not contact the piston, then this morning it got hung up in the exhaust valve then made its way out. I was really worried because I had a chevelle once that I dropped a steel washer into the carb and it did serious damage, still have the piston form that little mishap. Its beat to ****. This noise this time was never anything like the noise that one made. Maybe I got lucky this time. I have a boroscope at work, so I am going to pull all the plugs and have a look inside just to make sure there is no real damage but I think the crisis is over...knock on wood....
pull the valve cover and slowly hand crank the motor over and see if the intake valve is stuck open if so your into a motor rebuild. at this point just hope that it came threw and some how managed to not hold it open up enought to allow the piston to hit the valve but your hearing the rocker arm slapping the valve cap and push rod (which aint any better but much cheaper to fix)
