Default Vibration

wtf is the vibration coming from? under acceleration very bad, get on it above 70 and it feels like it's going to come apart...normal, easy acceleration dont feel it... I replaced the passenger side axle because thats where I thought the sound was coming from but the boots are fine and full of grease (took it apart after i removed it) so wasted $70. Still have a weird sound when taking off, clicking (or more like a squeak that increases with speed then goes away, only so often, not always, makes diagnosis difficult)....overhead mileage indicator went from 16.8 to 12.2 in ONE DAY...something in the drivetrain...killing me...

honestly, no, so what could be "out of balance" now because of that? I'm not burning oil, power is ok, or seems to be at the same level....I would think I would throw a code if something was not right inside (mis-fire or something)...

With our PCMs, not always. I've seen some serous carnage happen with these engine and never pop the CEL.

You still have an issue with the grommet stuck in the engine then.

I would pull the valve covers and bore scope the heads and do a leak down test. Look at it like this. If your engine goes, you will spend 2k on a new engine and around $1,500 for the install if your not doing it yourself. It's easy to say run it till it brakes but we are talking $3,500 man.

if its something thar is grinding scrubbing etc..follow a wall in a shopping center and isolate from what side exactly the noise is comming from... thats how i locate the destroyed wheel bearing... you said that this noise was only when turning, is that fixed and only vibration left...maybe a warped driveshaft...of the motor still have a problem with the gromet.

def take the valve covers off... maybe if you pull the sdpark plugs out and use somthing like a straw to feel around in the cumbustion chamber you can feel the rubber grommet

Wink

Kent you really need to pull the valve covers brother. You said none of this started until after the grommet was sucked into the engine. You can keep replacing drivetrain/suspension parts but it's not going to fix the problem and you will keep spending money on parts that aren't broke.

Valve covers are really easy to take off, just 10mm bolts.
1st you need to insepect each intake/exhaust valve looking for warped or bent vavles. Sticking valves can make squeaks, bent valves cause vibration even misfires. The higher the rpm, the worse the vibration. Hence why at "above 70 and it feels like it's going to come apart."

I know you have access to a bore scope. Pull every plug and inspect the pistons and the combustion chambers. Who knows, you might be able to find the grommet and get it out before it causes more damage.

Please take my advice man and here is why.

Travis didn't listen, we've spent about 3k fixing that. Engines, hoods, wiring, etc. Now he listens, lol.

Winston didn't listen and he is still waiting on the new motor to be installed.

Sean didn't listen when I told him to check timing before he did anything else and look.

Once in a while I'm wrong about these engines, but not very often. I would rather you prove me wrong than have to mow everyones lawns (the punishment from FB) and pay $3,500 for someone to put a new engine in your truck.

I wish I could help out with this and wish you the best of luck.

During hard acceleration with my truck I get a huge death wobble due to the rack not holding pressure.
