Default Spectro analysis on Motor oil, who has done it?

I'm looking into changing over from Mobil 1 Synthetic 5W30. There seems to be alot of talk on Amsoil so I will begin my research mostly on them. I was hoping that the people who have done a spectro analysis on their oil would be willing to share information on how long it was in the vehicle and what their oil change intervals are.

I normally go 5,000 miles per change and the oil still looks good. We try not to use the truck too much, instead going to the Jetta as our main source of transportation.

Thanks in advance.

I guess I could try that with the Mobil 1. When I change it out, it is a light brown. Maybe I'll get a kit from Blackstone Labs and have it tested. I use a K&N filter, which one do you use?

Also do you just use the regular 5W30?

Well....my family has been changing the oil in their cars and trucks once a year, regardless of miles per year. All our cars and trucks have always been long life engines, with no oil related problems. My family has been doing so since the late 70's, when mobil 1 hit the market with its long lasting interval claim.

My 06 Dakota gets the oil changes every October, so once a year. I go between 10,000-13,000 miles a year so far on average. I used a regular oil filter.

I personally have not had oil analysis done, but I know for a fact there are a few 3rd gen dakota reports on the BITOG oil forums. I think there is one up there for Mobil 1 EP, with 11,500 miles on the oil, that was reported to be in great shape, and recommended for continued use.

Don't forget over seas the oil change intervals are much much higher there here in the states. Mercedes Benz in North America also have 10,000 mile oil changes for the majority of there cars, and they all factory fill with Mobil 1.

The way gas is today, save your money and use Amsoil/Mobil 1, you cannot go wrong. Amsoil is good too. The key is to make sure you are using a PAO-based, group IV synthetic. No blends, no cheap stuff. Mobil 1 "Extended Performance" is the one you want. Amsoil 25k change 5w30 is great stuff too...I just don't use it because its over priced and I would need to order my oil online.

Well I'll be switching to Mobile 1 EP and a napa gold filter this next go around. I'll try for 7,500 miles and see what the lab results are.

Like I said before, we really don't use the truck to often, but I'll try and report back.

Ive been running Amsoil 10w-30 in my '06 3.7L for since it had 10,000 on it. Bout th hit 50,000 now and Ive been changing the oil and filter every 15,000. Havnt done a oil analysis yet, but I plan to this time just to see, but Im pretty confident the Amsoil will come back just fine saying keep on going.

I had good numbers at 10kmi w/a healthy mix of city and highway driving w/Pennzoil Platinum. Some of the more fickle folks @ BITOG complain about high metal numbers w/Mobil-1, but I've also used that and had a normal analysis w/7500mi. Just goes to show you that if your motor's in good shape and you use a good quality oil and good filters, you'll be a-okay.

It's a 1085 napa gold filter that it calls for but, you can also use the ford filter 1515. My dad usually uses the 1515 cuz it holds more oil. I tried it once and didn't notice anything different.
