Who on this forum can do metal fabrication or fiberglass?
Just looking for someone here that is either a professional metal or fiberglass worker, knows somebody who is, or that is just good at it.
I ask because I have seen many threads about hood scoops and I think most of us like the R/T scoop, but agree that it is well over priced.
I can be patient like Blow287 was and just wait and hope that a Dak gets parted out and has one, but if there is someone out there that could copy it and make it cheap enough for those of us that actually have to work for a living that would be awesome!!!
If I am not mistake (and please correct me if I am) the R/T scoop is made of stainless steel, which I like. But of course we all know that fiberglass hoods and scoops are common and if done right can look good and not cheap.
If fiberglass could look as good and would be easier to make (plus the fact that if you made a mold, it'd be easier to make more) and you are good at it, that could be an option too.
So, if you think you meet that criteria or know someone who does and are up for the challenge I think several of us would love to hear from ya and how much you think it could be done for. If initial estimates are well above $400, then I'm sure most of us would pass on it, but if it could be done for $300 or less and looks legit, then I think it could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
On top of that, I'm sure that a lot of us have had mini mods or minor fabrication or fiberglass work that we would like to have done and either don't have the means or experience to do it, so this could help a lot of us out and put some money into the pocket of a well deserving blue collar American. In these days I don't think the term overworked is used very often or at least thought of in a bad way.
Example of a mini Fiberglass or Plastic mod I was gonna play with this summer: I want to have a back up camera for my truck, and I don't like my options for where I can mount the lcd monitor (by the way, if any of you guys know of a GPS unit that can integrate with that, kind of like the MyGig...even better)...and I don't want to just stick it to the windshield or dash with a suction cup. What I would like to do is utilize the space on the far left side of the dash where a lot of people like to mount performance monitors and fab up a plastic or fiberglass housing that I can attach to the dash to make it look nice and clean. So, if any of you have any ideas or have done something similar like this I would love to hear from you and swap ideas and pictures.

Not a bad idea, just have to learn how to do fiber glass. Granted that does give me an idea. If I found one that I could return, I could at least make a plaster mold to have its exact dimensions and either fiber glass that, or maybe play with some heavy duty sheet metal, a hammer and a torch until it fit perfectly, I don't know, but hey let's keep the ideas coming!!!
