If you look at the picture, at the far left end of the header you see the opening come in contact with the desk. Same thing with the opening all the way to the right. Now if you look at the 2 holes in the center then you can see the light from the light behind it so you can tell they are not even.

Usually a small enough gap is leveled once the gaskets go on, but not on a gap this wide.
Thank you for the schooling, I see exactly what you are talking about and makes perfect sense. No way a gasket would fill a gap like that, and that would be a lot of strain on the mounting bolts to try even try to make them flush. Good luck bro, I'd love to get headers and I would be pissed if and when I finally ordered them to receive a set that was effd up.

Exactly... And to make it worse my stock headers have a leak and sound horrible which is part of the reason I'm dying to put the new headers in but like cramerica said, I'm only inviting more problems by being impatient.

At least I have the HO cams i just received to keep myself busy while I resolve the header issue.

Ho Cams huh? I have never gotten much into engine mods. How much did they cost, how hard is it to put them in or would a mechanic have to do it, and how much of a performance gain can you expect?

ho cams I think are about an 8-10 hour job.....if you know what your doing. Prices vary depending on if you buy new or used. You can seriously eff up a motor if you dont know what your doing...or even if you do know and your not careful....

Here is a good thread on cams:

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...4-7l-cams.html

and yeah like Jkeaton said, it is someting to be done very carefully, if you have never really digged in your engine before you my wanna try to do it with someone with plenty of experience so you can learn and maybe do the next ones yourself!

Damn, yeah I would most likely need to have a mechanic do it, cuz I really don't know any friends that are good enough that I would trust working on my engine. 10 hours huh, even the best labor I found around here is like $50 an hour, so we are talking like at least $500 plus the Cams themselves (however much that costs). Unless the gains are that good I'd probably have to pass, or at least try to strike a deal with a place that is desparate for work and get a flat price for the install. Oh well, just another thing to put on the "if I get deployed and save an extra $10,000" list. lol

So after waiting for the headers for a couple of weeks I e-mailed autopartsdealer.com

I asked them how much longer it would take, because I would just rather go and get them locally if it was going to take much longer.

They didn’t care to explain anything

Sent me an e-mail with a return number and some return instructions (despite of the fact that I shipped the headers to them already)

What a bunch of ********.

Definitely won’t deal with them again. I hope it doesn’t take another million years to get my refund.
