My dad just bought an old grand cherokee, old as in late 90s so would it be the same motor as in the that? I should see if it has the v8 because I know that it's running almost 280k miles.

Talked to him and it's a v6 but he's not sure if its a 3.7l could that be the same as the dakotas also?

blah, never mind on this post it's a 4.0L

yes it is the 4.0L and he loves it.. almost 280k miles.. I want whichever motor is most likely to hit 200k on the dakotas. the 3.7 or the 4.7...

I just wish they put the HEMI in these trucks..

Any advice on finding a clean truck with 50k or less miles for around 15k or am I dreaming?

I'm willing to travel the country for one also. My grandpa dives big rigs coast to coast so I can get about anywhere.
You can find goid deals, just be patient and wait for the exact truck you want. I got lucky and found my perfect truck in my second try. I had to drive 150 miles to get it, ended up with an 05 QC 4.7l with 54k on the odo for $12,500.

I drive a V6, and they are not fast. Both motors are reliable and designed to spend time at high RPM.

Get a V8, preferably the 310 HP.

If you are looking to squeeze mileage out of any vehical, V8s tend to do much better. I have 120k miles on mine and all that has been replaced due to failure is the water pump.

You would have to go to a 2008 to get the new 4.7l engine that has more power, but you would be looking at alot more than 15k unless it had a ton of miles on it. Any 4.7l between 05-07 are basically the same, the newer ones allow for flex fuel, and there are some High Output 4.7l in there as well, that have a little more HP.
