The 3.7 gets ****ty gas mileage for a v6 but it gets better mileage than the v8. Enough that i would make a decision based on that if i didnt tow.

yes, there is hardly any difference in the mileage between the v6 and v8...but there is a whale of a sound difference...nothing compares to the sound of a screaming 4.7!!! GET THE V8!!!

Agreed. I have Jba shortys and magnaflow sounds awsome. I also do have an 04 3.7 in the driveway that gets better mileage then the 04 4.7

no argument. you have proof. I just go by what I read on here. I get a solid 16 with mine driving hard or not so I'm not complaining. some on here get like 12-13....

The 4.7 is alot of fun to drive but gas is $4 a gallon and gettin higher. The 4.7 tows great and does everything i expect out of it though.

I had a 06 quad cab pt4x4 auto with the 3.7 v6, now i got a 06 quad cab ft4x4 auto with the 4.7 v8. I do love the v8 better, both seem to get similar milages, but the v8 does seem to drink a little more in the winter than the v6 did, but if i wanted 50 mpg ida got a prius. (id never drive one of those ugly *** things, in my own opinion)

I do notice a little bit more power in the v8 when towing things, but the v6 never let me down, till i put it up against a deer at 65 mph.

The v8 has a ton of more mods avaliable, but some people are creative enough to figure out how to get more out of their 3.7's. personally id love to see a turbo on a 3.7, just to see it done.

Just my .02 Cents worth.

Noted.

Thanks for the help guys. When my Chrysler gets to 77k miles I get a 1900 dollar refund on my warranty which will go towards paying it off and trading it in towards a dakota. When I look online at them, I search for the v8s because it will be the most I've spent on a vehicle and you guys are right, if I am going to invest this much money I shouldn't regret getting a v6 over the v8 even if I won't be pulling much ever. I mostly want a truck just for the bed.. and the 4wd is a huge perk living in the midwest. If you guys notice anything local in the next few weeks that has 4wd and the v8.. and preferably the paint matched grill/bumper over the chrome. Please message me!

Also, my sebring will be for sale at that point too if you have any kids looking for a cheap reliable car. I've had it for almost 50k miles with no problems at all! I would keep it but I have been wanting a truck for so long.. new tires, new battery, warranty since I've owned it and haven't had to use it once! All options sunroof, leather, aftermarket deck that hooks up to ipods and charges them. blah blah.. anyways looking forward to getting a dakota and getting active in this forum!

No you shouldn't regret getting the v6, i don't. I love it, am currently in the moding mode and having fun to. cai is on its way and then some exhaust work to follow shortly after.

I bought mine new in 05 and the window stickers were showing the 4.7 getting 1 mpg better than the 3.7. So why would I not get the V8?
