Default first thing to go wrong

well I found out today that my rear pinion seal is bad. So I took it to the stealership to get it fixed they said it would be $150 to $200. the truck is still under an extended warranty but the deductible is $150 so the extended warranty is pointless for this. I would try and fix it myself but I'm at my mother in laws and I don't have my tools (they are on there way to alaska). Has anybody had this problem before?

Dodges 9.25" rear end is notorious for the pinion seals leaking.

You can do it your self. all you will need is a new seal, 1 or 2 quarts of diff lube and a torque wrench. save your self a bunch of cash.

In the original post, he indicates that his tools are on their way to Alaska.

Marc, I would look into a private shop...if possible. They will typically always beat out a dealership in overall price. I would still specify an oem seal. If thats not possible, Felpro seals would be my next recommendation.

I had bought a seal and the oil but then I looked at the process on the service manual and I realized that I really don't have the stuff to do it so it's at the dealer and they are gonna call me tomorrow with all the info

And yeah the seal was $16 and royal purple gear oil was $20 so I'm gonna have them use the royal purple oil and the seal I bought
