As a gear head myself, I think it's kinda funny really, how heavy our trucks are.
My 94 5.0 mustang STOCK ran 15.2 @94 mph with only a factory rated 215 hp.

We start with 230 but stock + 4x4 + 4 door probably makes me run 17's or worse.

I find it funny how the 05 quad cab 4.7l only weighs 300lbs less than a full size ram of the same year with a 4.7. Our trucks are tanks when it comes to weight.

And WHY?

What is there that we can get rid of weight wise?
Remove the spare? It's a truck frame with a V8 and 4 doors. We should be able to save weight SOMEWHERE.

Losing the back bumper shaved some pounds for me

the way these trucks are built, I would rather keep the weight and be saved in a massive crash, than get wiped out

I agree that we shouldn't be chopping up our frame or anything.
As for the roll pan, i'd totally do it if I didn't have my reciever hanging off of the bumper atm. Gonna be pulling a 5k lb trailer next weekend, so how's THAT for weight loss?!

Spare tire is obvious, but again, not practical.
I guess if it's like, a race only truck, you could ditch seats and stuff... but my son's carseat probably wouldn't latch on too well to anything back there if I did that.
I have a fiberglass cover, so that's probably like 200 lbs, but I have to lock up my tools where I work. Gosh... there really isn't an answer!!!!!
It's just a big truck, full size, but not quite!
