I just Googled "RF interference from HID lights" and got thousands of hits.

Most seem to suggest that the problem originates with inexpensive/poor quality ballasts.

I get the impression that you can do all sorts of things to try to FILTER that noise, boost the radio signal, ground the radio better, etc.

OR, and what I would do if it were me, you can try to eliminate the problem at the source with a better-designed ballast in the first place.

is your radio stock or aftermarket? If aftermarket I would go and check to make sure you have a good ground(s). also make sure the HID system is well grounded. hmm...i'm getting ready to install HID's...guess I better start googling myself....wonder if you could wrap the ballasts in aluminum (or tin?) foil to test if it's the ballasts...

its the stock radio. im going to try wrapping each ballast in tin foil, and then if i can get my hands on it, copper wire. i read somewhere today that it helps block out RF signals.

Good luck finding actual tin foil, all has been changed to aluminum, and that will do nothing. Copper sheeting might do a little, but its just coming the problem

If you arent running relays yet, that has been suggested before to fix the interferance problem.

Like I said: You can stand on your head & try all sorts of things to filter/mask/reduce the RF noise being generated by the cheap ballast . . . OR, you can just get a non-noisy ballast in the first place.

My radio signal got VERY static a couple of days ago. Plus my car would take longer turn over. Got a new battery and that was the end of that.

The reason why I brought this up is because I never knew low voltage on a battery would cause bad reception.
