07 Dakota bottoms out over speed bumps
I have had mine for about a year now and I have no problems with my ranchos. They have some small rust spots but nothing bad. Best way to prevent rust is to rinse the bottom of the truck off every once in a while (especially in the winter). I try to go to the spray it yourself car wash every couple weeks and just give the truck a good spray. I have 120k and everything is still pretty rust free except for a few components and nuts/bolts.
My suggestion is (like Eimer's) to buy your Rancho's from shockwarehouse.com. I think we get a discount. Take it to a shop and just ask them to install the new shocks. This way, you eliminate the shop's mark up price. And, you get to select the shocks you want, not what the dealer will provide you with.
That site currently has a set of four for $377.44. Decent Price?
Also, strut and shock are pretty much used interchangeably?
Thanks
No, a strut and a shock are two completely different things. They perform the same function but are not interchangeable. Struts as a general rule run twice as much as a shock. Our trucks have struts in the front and shocks in the back.
Thanks
Well, the shock are easy to swap out, the struts are a PITA. So get the rear shocks and see how the truck feels. You'd know if you needed struts up front.
i got clunks chirps shimmies and shakes oh well, till today had to hit the brakes hard on a bumpy road and the front end left the ground and i almost put 3000lbs of american steel in to a freakin mazda! so i got ahold of partswharehouse.com, they will beat rockautos prices and free ship. on monroe sensa struts and i'm thinkin about the monroe load assist for the back. anyone use these? and for the trx is the daystar leveling kit enough to match the rear? how many cases of beer will it take to do this job?
