Default HHR fan installed.. is horribly vibrating!

OK, I finally got my HHR fan installed, and it seems to be functioning fine...minus the vibrating.
It looks like the fan is out of balance (even has a weight on it), you really feel it on fan start up, but it is there all the time.

I have ordered another, will have it in 3 days (hopefully).

Anyone else have this problem?

Mine has no vibration at all. It also had 2 or 3 weights. What brand did you buy?

Mine has a minor vibration I can feel in the steering wheel just a bit. It has a weight on it for balance but guess they didnt do the best job.

Install is not bad. Just need to have general electrical skills.

I had to remove mine because the CAI took up the room where I had my Spal controller mounted.
When I reinstall it soon I will be doing a perfect write up for everyone. Just need to find a new location for the controller. Probably gonna be in the cab.

As far as noticing a difference. I noticed a slight increase in power. But the largest change was the engine lag.

OK, new fan is installed, BIG difference...smooth now! I also changed the waterpump, both hoses, threw in a 180deg thermostat and replaced the belt and changed the antifreeze (best I could do was 2 gallons without flushing it).

Here are some pics of the install. I used bailer track (Tractor Supply) to fill in the gaps on the side of the shroud. I coated the whole assembly (minus the fan/motor) with bedliner in a can. I also re-purposed the nice water proof connector to have a disconnect for the AC and Temp leads (All connections were soldered/crimped/shrinked with marine grade tubing).

Eimer, take a peek at where I mounted the spal controller. I had to flip one of the horns to fit it, but I think it the best spot. I used flat carriage bolts (1/4 inch..WAY overkill, but I had them).

Special thanks to all who did this before me, you made it easy!

Kent, Adding just the fan did help with lag.The fan with the 180 thermo made a bigger difference, IMHO. Next stop, HO cams
