Ever put a new egr in? It could be sticking open. Got mine 45 bones at rock auto, and the pcv is right there when you change it. The 06 is a little different, looks like a huge nut in the head in the back.

Sounds like something more is going on with yours, but my 2002 Dak (4.7) misfired once. It actually threw a code though. I took it in and they didn't find anything wrong, they told me to run a tank of premium and then mid-grade from now on & bring it back for a closer look if I had more trouble.

I did that and never had another misfire for the ~20,000 miles I put on it after that (traded it in).

When I ran low on $ I'd run 87, but then if I still had 87 in the tank on payday I'd mix it with premium. If was nearly gone I'd just pump in 89.

I'm not sold on running higher grade fuel for no reason, but it's hard to argue with results.

When I bought premium for that reason I'd usually went to Sunoco cuz they have 91 octane which gets you the premium grade but a tad cheaper cuz it's not 92/3 (Which I'd run if I was towing...)

Might be worth a try, at least for 3 tanks.

Thanks Moparmaniac I will look into that. It's been fairly good lately, other than wanting to kill when stopping after startup for a few minutes,BUT, this is at stopsigns when I start it late in the day here and it]s 105 out. So the heavy load of the AC compressor is acting on it. The compressor still sounds great like it always has, but when stopping with a barely warmed up engine, it barely kills at the first couple stop signs. The missing on starting hasn't happened for a couple days now though. Then again, here in Phoenix, the motor is almsot half warmed up when I start it....

Hi, just an update, I did replace the EGR, looked into the coils some more, and even put in a new PCV valve, tested the fuel pressure etc.

I still get the same thing, no codes, cold starts often have a slight missing sound.

Oddly enough, when cold started only on hot afternoons, after work, it kills when idling at stop signs/stoplights. With or without the missing going on.

It almost always runs great after being warmed up.

If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them. Thanks to everyone that has posted their opinion so far, I greatly appreciate it.

tomisnt to answer you question about the coils setting a code when they developed a miss fire. No they didn't set a code untill it happend all the time.
