Default tire size

okay, tires will get replaced next month, and i will be going to the bfgoodrich ta ko. they are a great tire but they always look narrower than they are due to the edge profile.
anyways my truck came stock with the 245/70/16 I know some come stock with the 265/70/16 basically that is 1 inch taller than my stock ones. I would lke that look but I am afraid to give up any mpg. I do know that bfgoodrich makes a 255/70/16 which would only be 1/2 incha taller .
I am leanning that way
Ideas?

Are you sure you are not confusing the stock sizes with 245/70/16 and 265/65/17.

I know you can buy an optional tire size from tire shop that are 265/65/16. That would be pretty close to the 245 size tire but wider.

I did the 265/70/16s and couldnt be happier. The BFGs are pretty heavy and going bigger, I expected a decent decrease in mileage than my Firestone Destination A/Ts. I pull off about 16 mpgs and thats driving very aggressive, mostly city for the summer months. I drive on the highway to school during the winter months, and I still stick around that 15-16mpgs even in below-freezing temps. Here are some pics:

Yeah, I have seen those on the Bighorn model. Can they go on SLT? What are the implications?

I would assume here wouldnt be any issues. Should be able to go on an SLT. There are a lot of forum members who have gotten aftermarket rims in different sizes.

265/70/16 was a stock tire size, I would know as my truck came with them. Any increase in tire size is going to decrease your fuel efficiency, but it should not be too drastic at that small of an change.

I have 265/75/16's although I can't say how they affect gas mileage, seeing as I have 4:56's.

Sounds like you've decided on your brand, but FYI Pepboys is still running buy 3 get 1 free and lots of DF members have said the Definity Dakota (One of the ones Pepboys offers) works really well for them at a great price.

So part of the reason mine want's to get ~13 MPG in the city is due to the 265/70R16 General Grabber A/T's on the rims?
