Default Remote door lock range

I practically have to be only feet away from the truck for my remote door lock to work. It is also very directional. I have to approach from the rear left. Is it a low battery or the range isn't just that good?

I get better range from different sides of the truck but for most of the time I can usually get it to lock/unlock from 20 or more yards away

That is why I got a viper alarm. I have a 1 mile range with that.

I would say it's the battery in your remote. Before you change it make sure that you have a spare key, because once you remove the battery the key loses it's programming. So once you put the new battery in you'll have to reprogram the key. The directions for that is in the owners manual.

Here is a trick I did not believe until I tried it..and I am quite serious:

Place the remote under your chin, pointing upward, then hit a button. Your range will be better than double.

I lost a $20 bet on this one...it works!

On another note...I have changed several batteries on my Dak remote as well as my Grand Caravan..never needed to reprogram it.

Yeah, I have changed the battery once with no issues. Even when new, the range was not impressive.

Oh I thought I read in the owners manual that if you change the battery you have to reprogram it

If you leave the battery out for a long period of time, or let the battery stay dead for a long period of time, the key will lose its internal change and programming goes by by like my keys. My dealership said they would reprogram mine for free, but I have been so used to not having the fob working for 4 years its not on my priority list.
