Default 2008 Dakota issue

Hi everyone, I usually lurk around in the 3rd and 4th gen Ram section, but I have a question for the Dakota experts. My Dad is looking at a 2008 Dakota 4x4 with the V8. It's an SLT model and looks in good shape. What are the things we need to be aware of or watch out for? It has 50,000 kilometers.

Thanks

check out the front end a good bit, steering and suspension as they are kinda weak. At 50,000 kilometers he shouldn't have to worry about it that much. Other than that I think they figured out most everything else by 08. I'm sure others will comment with there input.

At only 55km, I suppose I would want proof the oil had been changed at the proper times. Did he get service records?

That is one good thing about getting a vehicle coming off lease, the dealership will have a detailed history of the vehicle.

He found out yesterday that it was the truck of the retired mayor of our town and he was a mechanic at some point before that.

Sounds like a good buy to me!

You might be interested in a similar recent thread.

I have also heard that the 08+'s are solid models.

They stopped making Dakota's yesterday. So you should be able to talk them down on the price pretty good, appears they aren't selling very well at all.
