Do a compress check... you may have a burnt valve. I'd guess exhaust side at that.

Btw welcome to Df and the 3rd Gen Dak Section!

Compression and leak down were fine. Dodge dealer said the ecu is toast.

Found a local salvage yard that orders them out of Idaho...200$ shipped and it's on it's way.

Sweet! Glad it wasnt anything serious. So did the dealership give any insight on the cause for the ECU burnout

It could very well be the PCM. Wasn't on my Dakota but when I had my Integra GS-R I had an extremely similar issue which turned out to be a bad ECU. The Acura dealer I had look at it first wanted to pull the entire ignition system and replace it with OEM parts for $6,000 when I bought the car for $3500! Not to mention that would have been a nice downgrade from the MSD SCI plus that was in it and still wouldn't have solved the problem. Luckily the next shop I brought it to wasn't so stupid.

Hey sully, what do you want for your PCM? Give me a call, 520-461-2723.

Got the new ecu...plug it in......FIXED!

But...now it's throwing the abs, airbag, and the parking brake light.

Sigh, going to hit up that salvage yard and see what they say.

Thanks guys!

You may need to reset it several times to get it to catch all those things, and activate them.
