I changed my last truck (An 02 dak w/4.7 V8) over at 100,000 when I learned the value of synthetic. Had no problems, only better MPG and a cooler running engine...

55,000. Ive been running full syn since I started racing. Truck hardly burns any oil at all. After having someone strip the drain plug head, I will never let anyone change my oil again!

Just changed mine out with a Mobil-1 5w-20 full synthetic. Not one problem. Engine runs slightly smoother and slight increase in gas mileage. I have about 70k on my truck.

Ill have to ask the dealer what kind of oil they use next time i go there. If synthetic will make my truck run cooler, that would be really nice then. Its been cooler lately, but normally my dodge temp is at halfway in the city and on the highway with speeds of 80mph. Plus i tow a 3000 pound camper trailer sometimes and i always have to drive the AC off. A tranny cooler would be really nice too.

I'm hoping to install one this weekend. Pulled an OEM cooler off a 2nd gen RAM at the U-Pull-It and am now trying to find some hose. I've found some old brackets of some sort that I will match up with the mounts on the rad. Should look like it came out of the factory that way when I'm done.

But $15... omg...

RP and K&N are both made by Champion Labs. Never seen a bad filter out of Champion no matter what name was stamped on it.
Gotta watch the ads, my last oil change I got 5 Qts. of Valvoline SynPower with a K&N for $27.99, then they pro-rated the two extra qts. at the price of the 5 qt. deal. I did a full synthetic oil change with K&N filter for under $36 tax, tag and title.

Wix is my filter of choice, but the closest NAPA is 12 miles, if I can get a quality filter like a Champion Labs, Purolator or Mobil 1 on a "deal" with the oil, I don't drive the extra distance...

Well, Mopar filter is made by Champ. some STP from autozone also, that's probably why STP looks exactly the same from the inside as K&N and Mobil 1.

I honestly donno why some ppl are bashing Valvoline and Penzoil, they really aren't bad. I have seen a lot of customer with 200k+ motor running their conventional oil.
we have a bulk of cheap unknow brand 5w-30 oil in our dealership right now, that bulk of oil made our penzoil look like the best oil in the world... it literally looks like it has the viscousity of water.

I've went to a Royal Purple presentation b4, their rep said they buy all their oil from Exon Mobil and add some of their additive in it, dye it purple and mark up the price. What separates their additive from the rest? many contents that was disliked by EPA. such as zinc, which is good for breaking in new motor.

I am going to defend our dealership's service. Maybe we are not up to your expectation, But yet, I believe we are the best guy to go to in town for the price.
Chrysler is running $39.99 for 4 oil change contract in many states, that's included tax and misc fees. OEM filter and 5qts of penzoil, and have someone do it for you, how could you expect more for $9.95?
If you dislike the oil we use, feel free to bring your own oil if you do not want to get dirty.

You know, just putting this out there, I have religiously ran Fram filters and as of 5-6 yrs ago, I switched to Pennzoil conventional oil. I have never had an issue with either, ever like some of the horror stories listed. Both Fram and Pennzoil have stepped up their game... http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/pennzo...t-and-gf-5-qa/ And for you Fram haters take a gander at this and not all the interweb noises...

Anyways... happy oil changing!

I've personally seen two engines died as a direct result of an oil filter failure. In both cases, Fram was the filter. Now granted both were over 12 years ago and Fram very possibly may have stepped up their game since then, but I still can't bring myself to use the "orange can of death"...
