What do you think of this wheel/tire combo?
Hey all, Im new to the forum and first off... thanks for all your opinions. I've read through the threads and decided on a K&N aircharger CAI, Flowmaster original 40 series muffler and 2.5" leveling kit with 1.5" rear blocks. Now I need some more meat in the wheel wells! Im going with the Black Rock Series 997 type 8 16x8's with 5" Back Spacing. I was looking at getting some 265/75r16 Definity Dakota M/Ts. Has anyone run them? Also, I'm not good with the back spacing compared to the stock wheels calculating stuff, so does anyone know if I'll have to do some trimming to fit the aggressive tread pattern? Oh yea, I have an 07 Quad Cab Dakota ST 3.7L 4x4. Thanks for you input and sorry for beating a dead horse with the tire size question

Welcome aboard. I can't answer too much on wheels or tire size because I am not to fluent in backspacing either. I do however know the on stock wheels with your leveling kit the 265/75/16's will fit with maybe minimal if any rubbing. I have the same size on stock wheels with just a 1.5" leveling kit

Tire size is appropriate. Factory backspacing on a 16X8" wheel will be great. If you want the effect of the "poked out" look, go with a shorter backspacing. Just realize that the shorter the backspacing, the more they stick out...which also means: increased range of motion = more trimming.

Your wheel choice will be pushed out 1/2 of an inch, which would probably be a little tougher to fit than a stock wheel.
The stock wheels have an offset of 25mm, or 5.5" of backspacing.
Your wheel choice has an offset of 12mm, 5" of backspacing.
It's much easier to try and get a similar backspace/offset to a stock wheel, it is easier to trim the front splashguard a bit and wheel well liner with stock or close to stock specs.
When you 'push the wheel out' with a lower offset, you will have to trim more of the front splashguard and possibly the front bumper cover.
You might not have too much of a problem with your choice, but keeping a closer to stock offset/backspace should make it easier for you.

Thanks a lot guys and 06Dak287 I just might do that. I just ordered the wheels today. Now Its time to save for the tires. The other option for tires I was looking at were Falken High Country A/Ts. The tread isnt as aggressive and might fit better, but having to trim alittle shouldn't be a big deal.
