Default Max front lift for 2wd

I'll be adding a front leveling (lift) kit pretty soon and I want the most I can get within reason. I was just wondering what yall thought of a 2.5" or a 3" over the strut spacer.

For those with the 2" front lift, do you think I could squeeze in another .5-1"?

I have a 2wd and I never go off roading. I do go over a few curbs (intentionally and slowly) now and then and that's about it.

thanks!!

The bigger it is the more angle it puts on front parts = Premature wear. I think 2wd can do 3" but you might hit the spring over bumps due to the angle of the control arm. 4x4 cant do over 2" I think it is without CV problems. Personally I wouldnt put more then a 1.5" or 2" on my 2wd and I off-road occasionally.

Other guys who have a lift could have better info then me, but thats just what I have read on here about them.

Also I heard guys suggest replacing your front struts at the same time, and sometimes the mounts to since its all apart

I'm putting ranchos up front and monroes in the rear this december, then when I need new tires (within a few months), I'm gonna get the lift. I wanted some opinions before it got to that point tho. Thanks for your input. I was weary on the 3" myself... (thats what she said)

Is there a point? I already know that the width of the spacer is less than the lift of the truck. Are you saying a 2.5" spacer would be fine (in your opinion)?

I wouldn't go any bigger than the 2" spacer, that is plenty.

I cant remember but if you go 2" with a 2wd you might also have to put blocks in the rear or the front will be higher...or is that with a 4wd?

Agreed, 2nd gens for sure. But I too have never seen a 4wd taller than me. That should change soon though!
