Default 4.7 to a 5.7

anyone done this and what are the hurdles that occurred ? I figure it will be a pain in my *** since getting anything like a lowering kit seems to be an act of God.

sullydetailing is going through a 5.3 swap right now. Might want to follow that thread.

But "pain in your ***" would be an understatement

ya see that lil youtube video was the best dodge advertisement to date...also it was real and not cg something missing from todays car chase scenes in movies

why swap cant you just throw a SuperCharger on the 4.7 like that jeep guy
seems like less work and same outcome

i thought i read somewhere that the 4.7 heads are hemispherical as well

But once you get supercharged, and have everything custom forged (lots of work by the way) update your whole fuel system, wait and wait for custom cam regrinds, and the hundred of hours of trial/error/tuning. He didn't just slap a supercharger on it. Dropping a hemi in is just some cuttin, some welding, lots and lots of wiring. bam, 290RWHP. And then, there are so many bolt-ons for the hemi... cams in stock everywhere, multiple choices of twin screw and vortec superchargers, new intakes, heads.. you can take that hemi way further after the swap.

I'm pretty sure you would have to grind off the old ones to fab your own, or cut some off a ram/durango It mates to the transmission just fine, but you need a torque converter from a ram. There's no info on a swap like this. there's a thread on a 2nd gen swap '01 4.7 to a '03 5.7. He had to refab motor mounts. But the 2nd gen is a different truck, the only thing I'm sure of is you'd need a custom oil pan, or reweld the one from the hemi, and hope you're not afraid of tracking down 75+ wires for the ecu.
