A lot of of-roaders don't mind lending a helping hand, especially if you wandered into a mud hole inadvertently.
I used to be one of these "offroaders" and from my expeirence We don't mind giving a hand to pulling someone out, but you would catch hell for going w/ a 2wd truck on a dirt/mud road.....
Not hating...just saying I wouldn't expect sympathy from everyone.

To dam much, I could have bought a front receiver or WASP thing, winch cradle and probably the winch to! it cost $258
No damage that I know of yet, Other then a small dent where the exhaust pipe was pushed into the underside of the bedside (only the little lip part) I did have a piece of wood between my tire and truck. Made a nice smell once I found it. burning wood! lol
