Default A minor inconvenience....

Ok so I had a little set back this morning.

I noticed that the "T" I installed at the oil pressure sensor to feed oil to the turbo was a bit loose, so I went in there to tighten it up.

It's right on top of the oil filter.

Well I ended up breaking the thread inside the block

What do you guys think I should do? I'm guessing I'll have to replace that whole part...

Dremel a slot so you can unscrew it with a flat/straight head screwdriver, or a chisel

Since that fitting end already has a hole in the center and shouldn't be seized, I would use a good quality easy-out to unscrew it from the block - just be careful not to over stress the easy-out and use the largest that will fit. If you snap the easy-out, the whole thing will be harder to remove.

The fitting itself will need to be replaced & you should be able to find another at any hydraulic shop. Get some teflon tape as well, you wrap some around the threads and they help seal them when you screw the fitting in & you won't need to put so much stress on the new one when you put it in.

I would try an easyout. If that doesn't work, I would talk to a machinest and show them the pics. You definately do not want to damage the threads.

Go to your nearest Advance Auto Parts. They carry Irwin tools on the floor, including easy outs.

I've never heard of an easy out before, learn something new every day!

Get a good easy out for sure. Cheap ones will make things worse, dont ask. Craftsmans and Snap-on both have them for reasonable prices.

There are numerous other style extractors by both, too

I have used the hex head styles as well and they are pretty amazing

These so called easy outs work best on TV infomercials.
