Default Wiring a new Stereo.. oh god, need a hand

so I just bought a new Alpine stereo and upon trying to plug it in and power up the first time, I get nothing.. so hopefully someone can tell me whats mixed up here

I got a Alpine CDE-100 and an 05 Dakota ... im gettin no power so I assume I may have my red(ignition) .. Yellow ( battery) .. or black (ground) cables might be screwed up?

Coming from the Alpine harness, Ive got
1x Yellow
1x black
1x red
blue+ blue/white(solid blue not connected)
then the 2x for each speaker

Coming from the Truck harness

again the 4 sets of doubled speaker wires
orange and a brown(dimmer and mute, both not connected)
2black ( one connected currently)
2yellow (again one connected, do I need both?)
1 red
1blue ...soo any ideas here? no sign of power whatsoever when I turn it on...I can post pics if needed..thanks

You'll probably need to tap into your cigarette lighter for power. Thats what I had to do.

how does that make sense? my existing stock stereo plugs up to the stock harness.. works.... Now add in a Schosche CRo2B stereo connector (for 2002+ chryslers) ..and attach the loose ends to the Alpines, id think thats all it needs

I think it has something to do with the computer system. It doesn't see the stock radio therefore it doesn't provide power to the ignition wire. You be getting juice to the battery wire though if memory serves. Do you have a test light?

The factory radio of turned on and off by the canbus thing. Aftermarket radios require a separate power source.

nah I dont, I thought it was straight forward... red to red.. but the new stereo adapter harness that goes TO the alpine one, has 2 black "chassis ground" and 2 yellow "constant/battery" wires, so im not sure why those are doubled up.. also if I need to attach one to the chassis ground for it to show any power? .. electric aint my field ,heh damnit been waitin all week with the stereo in my back seat , !!

Hook a ground to bare metal somewhere with a self taking screw. Trap the power wire into the cigarette lighter wire.

I think you need to put that stuff away and party. I'm so glad I went to Canada for new years. 6.5% apple juice and 10% beer... slc ain't got nothin. Good luck with the radio but don't forget to take a break for a few brewskys.

For "today's" radios, you need 2 power sources to make it function the way it was designed to. You will need an "always hot" connection to keep the memory on the radio alive to save things like your clock and favorite station settings, and then you need the other power source that will make the rest of the radio work - this second like is a line that's active after the key is turned to the ON or ACC position. The radio installation guide should show you which wire needs to be "always hot" and which is switchable B+.

The cigarette lighter is normally a good candidate for an "always hot" connection - this isn't the case on all vehicles, my wife's car doesn't work this way, so I'd check the connection with the key OFF.

The other wire can come from any circuit that gives you +12 volts with the key in the ON or ACC positions - this happens to be most of the circuits. For this, you can use one of those "add-a-circuit" attachments that plugs into your fuse box and will hold the original fuse plus a second fuse for the new circuit - these are very simple to use since you don't need to chop up your existing wiring. If you take this route & use different wires for the 2 power feeds & if you have the after market adapter that connects the radio to the OEM radio connector, cut the 2 power wires on the after market adapter and spice the cigarette lighter wire and the new circuit wires there instead of cutting the OEM harness. At some point you might want the OEM harness as-is.
