Default Springs

well i was driving down the 91 last night and started thinking to my self after bottoming out AGAIN. "my full size chevy dosent bottom out on this same road" and the dakota is almost the same size length, width height, real similar body construction. so i got to thinking why not go down to EIBACH which is a 20 minute drive for me, and have them make me a custom pair of springs for the dakota, maybe a stiffer spring rate will also give me that 1-2inch lift I am looking for, I will e-mail them today, any thoughts?

hells fukin yea do it! Let me know what you pay, I would rather have a stiffer spring with the 1.5 to 2" drop I plan to do, I was going to cut the coils but if they can do a custom set for a good price I might do that instead.

I kinda figured that cut spring would be stiffer since its the same rate with a shorter distance to squish.

whatever you do, dont heat them... I went through the fun time pulling some heated springs on a talon I recently picked up... IMO that is the dumbest thing anyone could do to a spring...

not necessarily, some springs are variable through their coils.

Oh yea, that's been a family joke since i was a kid. Something obvious to us is not so obvious to a simple mind. They can't understand what goes into making a spring, but the easiest part for me to understand is what tempered or hardened steel is and what heating it back up will do to it's hardness and temper. It's not as flexible and it tends to break.
