If i remember correctly they originally sold these trucks with 100K powertrain warranties but then they changed it to 36k warranties.

tell your dealer to pay you for your repairs, i work for a dealer, thats fraud its from the day you buy it brand new....

Doesn't surprise me much that it was leaking. I as well have a '06 with only 56,000k on it now, but noticed that the quick discn portion that goes to the tranny cooler was leaking when I had the fluid replaced at 50k. So just recently had that fixed.

Little,

The 2006 vehicles came with a 3/36 basic warranty. You are correct that the 03-05 model years came with a longer warranty but they were 3/36 basic and 7/70 on the powertrain. If you want me to check exactly what the warranty start date on your truck was, PM me the VIN and I will let you know.

Varner,

I am kind of curious as to why you think this is fraud? Sounds about right to me considering he didn't buy the vehicle when it was new.

Not to mention, the first issue was August 09, when the OP mentioned it was registered March 06. Clearly the 36/3 had expired.

That's a bummer that they got rid of the 70/7, any idea why? New truck warranties are better now of course, but looks like they were bleak for a bit there.

Fren,

Yes they went to 3/36 only for the 2006 model year and any 2007 sold up until 7/26/2007. After that the 2007-2009 had Lifetime Powertrain coverage for the original owners only. Since then we have switched to 5/100 on the powertrain and they follow the vehicle no matter how many owners.

That had better not be directed towards me... You don't know how i treat my truck, so why even bother making such a dubious claim.

As for everyone else, thanks! Im planning on doing a thorough cleaning underneath my truck this weekend so i can verify the source of the leak. Ill be sure to take some before and after pics. My dakota has been the most reliable vehicle i have ever owned and i never have any problems with it, hopefully it wont be the front main seal.
