Default cat question

the check engine soon light came on about 6 months ago, took it to the dealer, he diagnosed it needing 02 sensors, the truck has 50000 miles, however he did not have the OEM sensors in stock and I needed to pull a trailer so I opted for him to use aftermarket. Last week the light came on again so back we go, and again it showed 02 sensor, so this time they placed OEM, however they only replaced one, which I am not happy about. left the dealer, went home and five minutes in to my morning drive the next day the light comes on again. So back we go, this time they diagnosed that there is a leak from the weld on my catalytic converter. they are going to replace it, and they are saying it is under warrenty. Has anyone had this problem?
Two questions, what is the warrenty on the cats? Second, on the 4.7 is there only one cat or two (I would check but it is pouring rain and I do not want to crawl under it)

What year is your truck?

There should be 2 cats, one on each bank.

there are two cat's (Meow) and the power train warranty should cover the exhaust system.
if its just a cracked weld. that's an easy fix. depending if its on top or bottom. the cats are actually on either side of the motor. attached directly to the manifolds.

I wonder if that is my problem. My CEL is on and the code is for Sensor 2 bank 2. I will have to check before I replace it. Man the things you learn on here

ive run into o2 codes for bad cats before

if you have a cortex you can just watch the voltages ...sensor 1 should be bouncing all over the place, sensor 2 should be reletivly steady ~.7-.8 meaning the cat is doing its job

heating circuit codes are completely diff and usually need a replacement o2...but they arent really hurting the working operation because the data side is still in operation

also shouldnt your 02 snesors be under warrenty?

other reccomendations about o2 sensors is never solder the wires if you have to splice in a universal one or extend the wires (lift?)...use crimp connectors...its something to do with needing outside air for a reference that it gets via the wires

I believe emissions controlling devices are covered under a separate warranty... Like 8 year/80k miles or something... it might even be 10 years... I dont remember exactly.

also have you seen the trick where you put sparkplug fouler adapters on your o2 snesors to get rid of CEL when running hollowed cats/testpipe

You are correct, any respectable muffler shop will sell the fouler, although I've heard they are a bit pricey....Im sure they can be found cheap online though
