Default ?s about dual exhaust

I am looking into getting a dual exhaust (single inlet, double outlet muffler), and I do not know much at all about exhaust systems. How much does the size of the exhaust pipe affect things? For instance, will a 2 1/2" have advantages over a 2 1/4"? I was looking at purchasing something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/01-08-Dodge-...sories&vxp=mtr or would a flowmaster 40 series or magnaflow muffler be better? I don't want something super loud, just something with a little rumble and louder than stock. What all advantages does mandrel bent pipe have over non-mandrel bent? Any help appreciated.

I would go with Magnaflow. That kit says 01-08 on it..I don't think exhaust setups for the Dakota 2nd gens from 97- 04 and the 3rd gens are interchangeable. Maybe I am wrong though..will go do a little research

The directions after ordering say to specifiy what year, so I think they make both sets, just the buyer has to specify which one.

magnaflow - sounds like crap till u step on it
flowmaster - sounds like a american truck
no matter if its dual catback or single catback you wont see much difference except for sounds, dual u will be able to hear the cylinders firing/moving more than a single

Borla sounds best IMO.

If I couldnt find a borla muffler on summit that I liked, I would go gibson.

i had a flowmaster 40 series on and it was way too loud inside the cab for me. Magnaflow toned it down perfectly. You will find opinions on mufflers are as broad as opinions on tires. As far as your ?'s about size and mandrel vs non-mendrel, I'm not so sure. Hopefully someone knowledgeable will chime in.

when mandrel bending you run a "ball" inside the pipe being bent so that the angle is smoother than otherwise made with traditional bending(i know it's a simple way of explaining it...), which equals to better airflow/moreHP:

My flowmaster sounded pretty great and i have a club cab like you, so it wasnt terribly loud inside, but my flowmaster rotted away and fell off 2 1/2 years in

Thanks for the info. I will have to check into the borla's because I hadn't looked at them. So what about the exhaust pipe size? Anyone have any information about that? It seems to be mainly 2 1/4" and 2 1/2".
