Default True duals?

Does anyone have true duals on their Dakota? It seems as though all the exhaust kits you can buy for our trucks are si/do. Would we even benefit from having a true dual exhaust system, or should I just stick with the si/do? I want to achieve the best performance I can. With the way vehicles are made nowadays, any and all small gains are appreciated.

i have a true dual with gibson headers cermaic coated, it has 12 point grade 8 locking nuts from the collector to a universal 2.5 ball joint flange then i have 2 2.5 pipes going into an x pipe into two flowmasters dumped before the rear axle, someone asked me to take a video one time but it is WAY to loud, my sound quality on my phone wont pic it up.....

it gave it a little more power all the way around, and it makes heads turn wherever u go....

Without doing any other upgrades, do you think it would be worth investing in true duals? I will probably do a few things such as a CAI, electric fan, programmer/shiftkit, throttlebody. Maybe a mild cam. Should I just save myself a good chunk of change and purchase a si/do? I don't plan on doing most of the work myself, so that sets me back right there.

My opinion is at least get rid of the y-pipe, if your '11 is like ours, its pretty restrictive. I would spend the dough on the other mods you mentioned.

go with the true dual with as less restriction as possible, 2.5 for each pipe sizing would be sufficient.

My local mechanic basically told me that true duals wouldn't be worth the money (unless what I'm looking for is sound). I'll take his word for it considering he's worked on two of my previous vehicles and he does a damn good job. He's been in the business for decades. Looks like I'll have plenty of money to spend elsewhere! I appreciate the responses though, thanks!

i
yes, the gains compared to the cost keeps many of us from doing the "true dual" thing. Just lop off the restrictive factory muffler and resonators, get yourself a performance muffler (flowmaster, magnaflow, gibson, cherry bomb, thrush, whatever). Spend the money you save on a CAI, tuner, throttle body, sonnax, e-fan, etc.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if a 3" single in/single out will be louder or quieter than a single in/dual out? I imagine they would sound pretty similar.
