im right where you were when you origionally posted this. im not wanting to open things up and retro fit my truck, but im avidly looking for projectors particularly the black ones from spec D. Im calling them tomorrow like you did to see if there is anything coming out, because i cannot find a single thing for my 2010.

The reason we can't find any for 2008+ headlights is a matter of a numbers. More 2005 and 2006 model year Dakotas were sold in their individual years than all four years of the newer front end style combined. Mid-sized trucks are a dying segment, people either want an outdated large car with a truck bed (Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon) and a four cylinder, or a full size truck (1500 or larger).

Below are the sales figures.

2nd Gen Dakotas:
1999 - 144,148
2000 - 177,395
2001 - 154,479
2002 - 130,712
2003 - 111,273
2004 - 105,614

3rd Gen Dakotas:
2005 - 104,051
2006 - 76,098
2007 - 50,702

3rd Gen Dakotas with updated front end:
2008 - 26,044
2009 - 10,690
2010 - 13,047
2011 - 12,646 (includes 2011 models sold in 2012)

With over well over 800,000 2nd Gen Dakotas sold, there are lots of aftermarket parts. With well over 200,000 2005-2007 models sold, they are fewer, but still available aftermarket parts (decent variety). With barely more than 60,000 of the newer front end trucks (2008-2011), more expensive aftermarket parts for the front end are going to be much fewer, if they exist at all, including headlight housings. I wish it weren't true, as I too would be interested in projector housings for my 2010.

Let me know if Spec-D gives you any information.

I called Spec-D this morning asking if they make any projectors for the 08+ dakotas, they DON'T. nor do they know of anyone that does. I asked why the sales represenative said they have not had enough requests to make it.. so i urge everyone call Spec-D and ask for projectors for the Dak 08+.

I'd much rather see projectors made for the 05-07.

I have a 2010 big horn edition. So those lights there are what I have stock. As a matter of fact that truck there looks very similar to mine.
