Default Need new torque converter?

I have an 05 dak 3.7 with a 42rle tranny. A couple of months ago it started making a noise when the engine would run at 1000 rpm and higher. The noise is a high pitch sucking sound. I have used a stethoscope and found that the noise is coming from the torque converter. It is noteworthy to add that I did change the filter last summer. I didn't use an oem filter, I bought one from auto zone. Would the crappy filter be starving the converter of fluid or is converter going bad? If so where should I purchase one?

Its possible the filter is plugging up. IIRC some guys had issues with aftermarket filters before. Does it make the sound all the time? I would check into a dealer for an OEM one. I am sure they have some in stock.

Somebody else may know more and will chime in soon...

Pretty much all the time. I'm gonna change the filter Monday. It's supposed to rain all weekend here, $30 at the stealership. Hopefully that will fix it.

Well I changed the filter today and it's looking like I need a new torque converter. Where should I start looking for one? She started bucking and acting up yesterday. Was grateful I made it home. Performance went down hill quick.
