AWD conversion from 4x4
Am I right in understanding that the 4x4 t-case is a NV233HD and the AWD t-case is the NV244HD? If so it would be sweet to swap out an AWD transfercase in my dakota to have a 6sp manual 4.7 v8 awd truck.
Why would you want awd? Id volunteer to swap ya, but its my daily driver, and i dont have time to do that.
my truck has awd, 4 hi and 4 low. The AWD is always kicked in. It doesnt have a 2 hi option. I saw on a 4gen ram that it had 2 hi awd, 4 hi and 4 low. I would love a transfer case that has 2 low, 2 hi, awd, 4hi and 4low. (2 hi/2 low would like having 4.56 and 3.55 gears all in one, or something like that, but not quite geared as low as 4 low.) I, personally, would like to have part-time and unlock the front end when not using the 4x4.

I also have a 6 speed with 4wd. Is there a certain reason you want AWD? If this is a truck that only drives on pavement, then I can understand. If you do the least bit of wheelin', I would stick with the selectable t-case.

It is my daily driver and I spend hours on the road a day for work. Weather is pretty inclement a lot of the time here (except this winter was pretty timid), and I do use 4x4 on the road, but it's quite the pain to switch in and out all the time when pulling in somewhere. I also don't get out in the dirt like I used to, unless I am screwing around in my yard but it really isn't 'wheeling'. Finally, my old speed6 proved how awesome awd launches can be....
