Intake Air Temperature
So I picked up a decent scanner off a friend for CHEAP this weekend..it is the Actron CP9580.

Anyways, I was surprised it had live data and worked without any problems for my truck and all numbers I saw looked spot on..until I saw the IAT in the list. My IAT was around 150 degrees F and I feel as if this is way to high. Now, my engine bay was still hot as I just came back from a 50 minute 35 mile highway trip. The outside temperature is around 55 degrees F. I don't think my IAT should be +100 of the ambient temperature..here is the catch though..I have done the power wire mod and have had it wired in there about 4 or 5 months and have had no issues with it. I know, the simple solution is to double check the connection and then compare readings with the resistor in there and without it but I just wanted to get some other opinions first. If the mod is working properly then that would mean my actual IAT readings would be around 170 Degrees F since the resistor makes the sensor read it -20 degrees..

It's a resister that is put inline with the IAT, fools the computer into thinking the temperature is cooler so it adjusts the sir/fuel ratio accordingly. Supposed to add a few HP. I personall run one and I honestly do feel a slight difference in off the line performance. That's just me though, others say it is complete BS. If you look on ebay for those ads that state 100 hp and 25 more mpg for a plug in module, it's usually one of these resistors.

looks normal today..I think I know what happened. I drove the truck for an hour and then it was parked in my driveway for about ten minutes before I plugged in the scanner. All the engine heat was sitting under the hood from my long trip and obviously the clutch fan was off since the truck was off..so it was just abunch of hot air trapped inside my hood throwing off the reading. But, I think that my temperature should be "lower" than that with my power wire shouldn't it Kent?
