Default Best mod ever. Woodgrain bezel delete.

I got a wild hair you know where the other night and decided to take care of my bezel.

I started with some 150c sandpaper and spent about an hour on just the woodgrain part, not the black textured part below.

I then cleaned it up really good, masked off the black part and cleaned it one last time before hitting it with 2(ish) coats of Adhesion Promoter.

Then I have this textured dark gray metalic plastic paint from Krylon and threw a number of coats on. It's mounted now, but I will probably take some clear coat to it after it is fully hardened. It's a little too sparkley, but I think the clear coat will dull that out a bit, hopefully.

before (best pic I had)

Looks a lot better now. I would have done the same thing if I had that bezel.

Nice job.

as norma is only a "st" model, I don't know about this wood grain. Is it only the center bezel? and nothing else?

I guess I am the only one who actually likes the woodgrain. I had a silver one originally and traded for a wood grain.

Thanks guys. Yea normajean, its just the radio bezel. Kinda annoying mismatched interior. All the pillars are cream, small door panels are light gray, the rest is dark gray... and then there was that ugly red/orange bezel in the middle of it all. I want to get rid of the cream pillars too.

sounds like a failed attempt at classy interior, i really like the light grey vs dark grey, i think it just fits the dakota, but then again norma is grey. frenicX, good job with choosing that color, it looks much better. you certainly like having alot on your plate all at once dont you haha

After reading posts here about the look of the interior, I sat in the truck and looked and realized how bad the color scheme is... lol

Looks good I finally swapped out my "carbon fiber" looking one with a black one that I got at a junk yard this weekend.

I know lol. I'm a bit obsessed lately.

I thought the color was going to be darker, but it almost matches the dark grays, the contrast is in the shine/shimmer though so it still looks pretty good.

That dimpled silver one? I almost bought that at one point to get rid of the woodgrain lol.
