Default Seafoam Question

I know I make lots of question threads lol.

Anyways was wanting to give sea foam a try in my gas tank. Right at half a tank so was going to fill up tomorrow when I get paid. Anything I should note if I do this? Or should I use another product?

Try Startron . If you were going to put Seafoam in your vacuum line then it seems to be the recommended product but I don't know how great it is for cleaning your fuel system. I ran it in a tank of gas as you talk about doing and did not notice any changes in fuel mileage or anything. That doesn't mean it didn't work but I know guys on this forum, especially in the Ram section, swear by this product in when it comes to fuel additives. I plan on trying Startron soon as well. That link is to Amazon but I actually did see this stuff at Autozone last time I was there..it was the small 8oz bottle but I'm assuming that can treat our full tank worth of gas.

edit: looked at the link and the small bottle treats 48 gallons of gas..so just over 2 full tanks on our trucks.

My Mustang had a terribly rough idle when I got it, I replaced the coil pack, plugs, wires, cleaned the MAF, etc. Nothing worked, so I started trying the various fuel system cleaners thinking maybe I had injector problems. I ran 2-3 containers of Lucas Oil treatment through it, did not notice a difference, I also tried STP fuel system cleaner. Still had a rough idle. About 2 tanks ago I added a bottle of seafoam, the idle has smoothed out considerably. Don't know if it is coincidence or not, but for me, it worked wonderfully. Have not used anything in the Dak, really have no need to.

I think you only get the smoke when you pour it into the vacuum lines, I am not sure. I have always been scared to pour that stuff into my truck orifices.

I used to be a die hard seafoam user untill I tried greased lightning. It is way stronger, even smells like detergent instead of a petro by product.

I have heard of people putting seafoam into their oil as well, but do you put greased lightning into your engine? I use that stuff to clean around the house.

I ran it thru my Vacuum lines, Did wat it said (Other then the oil) no smoke at all, not even a little. Probably not dirty enough tho.

Its suggests it, but it also tells you to run so many then change your oil. like a hundred or somthing.

Seafoam works great when you follow the directions. I'm on a jeep forum and those guys swear by it. Start your engine, slowly pour about 2/3 of the bottle into the brake booster vacuum hose, turn off engine for 5-10 minutes(iirc) then re-start and watch the smoke show!!! The amount of smoke is based on how dirty your engine is. DO NOT put it in your oil, despite what the bottle says. If you have any build-up along any oil seals then it could start to leak afterward.

I did that, got 0 smoke, Win? I didnt do the oil as I also heard the same thing about the seals. Plus I also just had it changed. I dumped the rest in the gas tank.
