Default 2005 dakota 305/50/20 32's terra grappler (Body Lift?)

I just picked up some 305-50-20 nitto terra grapplers and some 20x8 +15 offset rims for my dakota and I ordered a +3front +2rear leveling kit that I am still waiting for. I have been searching the forums for fit info, anyone know if I will be able to run these without a body lift, I can take the bumper off untill I get one. With factory ride they rub the mud guards when you turn the wheels but will pass by them this is obviosly not ok to drive, I was just trying to get an idea of how much room I will need. I dont mind removing my inner finderwells or moving my bumper foward if I have to I just want to drive with my new goodies Thanks Chris 850-238-9973

3" and 4WD don't go together man..the angles of the CV joints are terrible

Yea hate to say it but you may want to ebay those when you get them and get a set of 2" instead.

It seems to me that you might be ok with the 2" for clearance since the offset is pretty close to stock. There's always the possibility of trimming, most of us who have rubbed have just trimmed what's in the way strategically and it works out. It's that splash guard that does us in the most though.

Truck looks fantastic though man, nice pics. We love pics around here lol

do you guys think I be ok to run this kit without using the 4wd or is it the angle itself that will do it, Im all onroad and live on the flats. I can get a 2'' kit later on when I find out if I need A body lift

All on-road might be ok... I wouldn't do it but the main thing is it tears the boots open pretty good because the ribs in the rubber can contact eachother at those angles.

Just keep a watchful eye on those boots and don't go muddin or 4 wheelin and I think you'd be alright. If/when the boots tear, replace them immediately and get 2" levelers instead.

Also, another reason the 3" aren't recommended is because it puts the control arm really close to the strut spring, and you may get contact every so often.

The 3" leveling kit will destroy 4 things: cv axles, upper ball joints, lower ball joints, and tie rod ends. The "other" problems you will have are: tweaked struts,semi-destroyed control arm bushings. Here's my problem, (I have a 2" kit), when my truck is at full droop, I get CV bind......thus, the 3" will be significantly worse.

If you want to spend $700 in parts that are lifetime warrently, I "guess" it might be worth it, seeing is how the only money you would be using would be for the plethora of alignments after you rape your front end every 6 months or so.


My suggestion is, DO NOT USE A 3" KIT. We have had a couple of members use the 2.5" kit and get away with it. But, complaints of front end failures soon followed.

I agree with donkey. You will end up replacing your front end components over and over. 3" if you have 4x2 only. Not a 4x4.

I guess I will be ordering a body lift and a 2'' kit. anyone have a body lift for sale, should I spend 5 bills on a 3'' PA or is there something cheaper, I have a large lathe and tig welder if someone could send me the measurements of the kit I could make one
