Synthetic Oil
I have put synthetic oil in my baby dodge since the very first oil change she ever got with me being the owner. She had 25k miles on her in 2007 now in 2012 she has about 75k miles on her. My hubby and I are gitting ready to put another 2k on her this summer going back to VA, is it a good idea to switch from full synthetic oil to regular mineral oil?I have always been told that if you start putting synthetic oil you have to stick with it, you can't go back to the regular stuff.
Welcome to the forum, if it were me I would stick with synthetic, I don't see how driving 2k miles in the summer would necessitate the need to switch from synthetic to conventional (if by "mineral oil" you mean conventional).

I don't even know if economics is a reason. Conventional oil changes & regular filter at 3000 miles vs. a full synthetic and premium filter at 6000 miles should work out pretty damn close in the long run...

+5000. With so many miles until your next oil change, there will be plenty of sales to choose from, so if you want you can even pick a favorite brand. I like Mobil 1, for example, for my oil. It goes on sale half way frequently.

Yep, I can usually pick up a 5 QT. jug of Valvoline Synpower with a free K&N or Purolator filter for $28.95 if I keep my eye on the Advance Auto ads, then I just need the two extra quarts at regular price...
