Default Camshaft Position Sensor A 07 Dodge Dakota 4.7L

So my check engine light came on and I hooked up my computer and it says check camshaft position sensor A gave me code number P0344. Just wonderif anyone knows where this is located and is it possible to change yourself. Also approximate cost on a new sensor? The truck drive fine till you give it gas doing 80K then it get very jerky.

Any help is appreciated

This is on RockAuto.com under 07' Dakota, subcategory Ignition..it is easy to replace, should be right on front of motor and goes into the cylinder head. Unplug it, remove one bolt, slide it out and repeat this backwards to install it. Cheap and simple!

I had this replaced twice on my 2007 4.7L by the dealership. Same symptoms you destined too. The replacements solved the issue for a while, but my lease ran out in 2009, so not sure if the second swap fixed it permanenly. Also - if you bought your used in 2009 and it is gray with LineX...

Yes that's the MAP sensor, the camshaft sensor is on the passenger side in the head, toward the front. At least I think its the passenger side. Either way, if to put you hand on the front/side of the valve cover and roll around down toward the block you should run in to it. It takes its reading from only one of the cams, so just one sensor.

Just replaced mine the other day. It is on the passenger side. Crawl under from the front and you will see it on the bottom pass. side of the head. Once you pull the bolt out there is just a rubber o-ring holding it in but it was a pain in the *** to pull out! lol

Thank you for the help locating camshaft sensor. It is definetly on the passenger side head underneath the water lines to the heater. Never would have found it without you!!

If you download the factory manual instructions are on page 8I-9. It says to tighten to 106 in. lbs.
