Default Will a Truck Cap for an 04 Crew Cab fit on an 05?

Hey guys, As usual I've been shopping around on Craigslist and I came across a guy selling a Leer Truck Cap from his 2004 Quad cab dakota. If I can get it cheap I'd take it off his hands. Only thing is I'm not sure if it would fit on my 05 Dak, and also even if it did, how or if the body lines would match up. Have any of you ever took one from an older truck and tried to put it on a newer one? As always thanks in advance for your thoughts and help.

yes, it will fit. it hangs over at the back end due to the taper in the bed rail top.

yeah, but you can hardly tell that. The biggest thing is the tapered top rail of the bed.

I think I know what you're sayin, guess I'd have to see what it looks like on my truck to determine if I could deal with the slight differences or not.

To tell you the truth I don't think hardly any of the manufactures changed the shell for the change in the bed shape for the dakotas. It appears most pre 05 campers will fit 07-11 dakotas. But do so with the small hangovers that were discussed. I would be really curious if any of them have a different part number for a 99-04 v.s. 05-11

For the one or two times a year I use it, it's perfect.
