Barry, get out your recip. saw and start cutting....a lot. You will find that when the truck is on the ground and you turn the wheel...you will probably start ripping stuff off.

I have 285/75/16s (33x11.20ishx16s) and I have had to remove the entire mudflap, and close to 2" out of the pinch weld and fender. I have probably cut out 8" of the wheel well liner. I will post pics in a minute....stay tuned.

Here is a good example of what needs to come out of the fender after you remove the mud flap. Keep in mind, this photo shows the closest point the tire comes to the cut, at ride height. I actually need to trim about another 1/2" for clearance under compression.

In this one, you can see that I HAD to remove over 2" out of the pinch and whole sh*t load out of the wheel well liner.

Here you can see the wheels at full lock, at ride height. The tire still touches the wheel well liner at a little over half compression.

Hope this helps.

I have a 2008 Ram 1500. I have 20" stock rims and want to put 17" rims on.
I was told that if a Ram comes with 20" stock rims that you can NOT do a smaller rim because of the brakes. is this true or will the 17" rims fit?
I currently have Bilstein leveling shocks (around 2 inches of lift) on the front and the rear is stock height. I an putting in a 2" suspension lift kit next week.
I would like to put on 17" rims with 35 X 12.50 x 17 tires. Will this work?
I am looking at Ultra type 164 It is a 17x9, 4.45 backspace, 5-139, with a -12mm offset.
If this will not work what should I be looking for that will get me close to this set up?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

You can absolutely mount 17s on a 2008 Ram 1500, even though it came with 20s. The brakes are the same whether it came with 17" or 20" wheels.

Post over in the 3rd Gen Ram section and they will help you out with offset and tire fitment.

Default 3 inch body lift

hey guys im a new member. I have an 07 Dakota Laramie and am looking to beef it up a bit. I am looking at the jack my ride leveling kit and 3 inch body lift. I have a friend that is a mechanic and I asked him what it would cost me to get this installed. he said it is a 12-14hr job n he will charge 40$ an hour instead of his normal 50$ rate. I am just wondering, those of you that have had this done...do you know how long it took and how much it cost you. Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Depending on the style of the leveling kit, and the integrity of the components you are seperating, the leveling kit can take you anywhere from 45 min to 4 hours, generally. My leveling kit took 45 min to do both sides. Most members say the body lift is around 10 hours.
