I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota with factory suspension and 245/75/16 on it and I want to put LT265/70/16 on it. Should i do anything first or put them on and see for a few days if any excess rubbing is noticable?

You can put LT 265/70/16 on with no problem whatsoever at all, with no rubbing. That is an optional stock sized tire on our Dakotas.

Welcome to DF.

Turned out nice! what kind of levelling kit did you get? Seeing all of these, levelled dakotas with the lifting blocks in the rear is really making me second guess the body lift. With the 275/70/17 was it some minor trimming of the inside plastic, or none at all?

I have the PA 3" and 2" leveling blocks.
I also added some knerf bars which pretty much hide the frame as I mounted them down from the body about 2".
I'm running 285/65-18 BFG's.

I'm looking at a westin bar that mounts to the body so the bar will go up with the body lift. So there will be little gap. Never have seen one in person. like I said earlier some pics show a lot but others not much at all. Your right though the ones with the step bars, seem to hide the frame. In the pics anyways.

When I went looking for bars I could not find just what I wanted and because we were heading away on holidays with the truck I pulled the step bars off my 2000 Dakota. They were a bolt on. The brackets bolted to the body mounts in exactly the same place so the Gen2 and Gen3 body mounting points must be very close.
I did have to fab one new brace from 1" flat bar but otherwise they bolted right on.
I does open up a broader range of bars for our trucks.

You have a PA 3 inch body lift, and do you mean a 2 inch leveling kit in the front? if this is the case does your truck sit perfectly level? I Just ordered the PA body lift and the daystar 2 inch leveling kit, kinda worried the front will sit higher than the back. My truck is a 2006 dakota quad cab. Would the 08 sit the same as the 06's. Hmm, maybe i should of got a 1.5 inch front leveling kit? Then I could rest assure it probably would sit level. Also, Was thinking of 33 by 12.5 tires, but am looking at the same 285/65/18's as might not be so much of a rubbing problem, and you still get a decent wide stance, i'm thinking.

I am new and have searched this thread and cannot find the answer. Could I run 285/70r17 with a 3in body lift and no leveling kit? Everything I saw over stock involved the leveling kit.

I did an air bag kit in the rear at the same time I did the leveling blocks but with no air it does sit down a bit in the rear. The earlier trucks may be different though as I thought mine looked level before the front spacers.
The idea was to be able to dump the air and back under my 5th wheel which works real nice.
I do like my 185/65/18's and they dont rub.
