I needed to order some stuff from Amazon last night and I just ordered the Jet 180 T-stat... I know it's more expensive, but what I've read it's better built and it has the gasket included (and I know it's a $2 gasket). Also ordered the Fumoto oil plug with the nipple.

06Dak4.7Silver - I'm hoping this is easy... not like my freakin' struts! :-)

Thanks for the help!
You are running right around 215*F at that mark on my truck with the temp sensor installed in the plug off the top of the engine where the return rad hose connects onto. About 1/8 higher and you are at 230*F. Waayy to hot, I don't know what it would be at when it actually reaches the Hot mark.

It is normal. Mine climbed up today to the same Spot Frenix pictured.

Temperature outside must have been 100+

I also have the condenser, tranny cooler and intercooler hanging out in front of the radiator so I didnt freak out much.

Not that I like it...

Been busy guys, yea I'm not liking how hot it is. I'm thinking of giving the condenser its own small fan and upgrading to Mark VIII fan.. I'm working with my electronics professor on making a full functioning 100A controller. Like the ones that other guy sells (eventually, if he likes you)

I don't like the idea of the trans temps getting that high either, since the trans cooler is essentially part of a heat exchanger with the coolant, then it's temps will probably match the coolant temps.

Mine has gotten hot twice on me..with HHR/Derale/180 One being today. About 90 degrees, I got off the highway and shut the A/C off to put down the windows and it got hot with the windows open and blower completely off. The other time it got hot was on the highway doing a consistent 85 mph with the A/C on. I am not too concerned and will just get that GMB water pump or w.e brand it is eventually. However, if I get a Ram next year I will not be putting the HHR on it. Mark VIII or Flex-a-lite for that truck..will leave it stock for awhile anyway. 390 HP will do the trick for me..plus the 3865 will soon work on 2011 and 2012 models. Yes, I did look at my future truck last week but I was only at Dodge because my lady is interested in the Dart!

I remote mounted my tranny cooler last night, now I'll see how the HHR fan plus my auxillary pusher does when towing my trailer tonight. I picked up a Taurus fan yesterday, but did not have time to put it in. I am thinking a simple control for a two speed motor, but use the controller to energize two separate 80 amp relays, one for low speed and one for high speed. Then you have no amperage draw on the controller itself, your 80 amp relay will carry the load of the fans. All your controller does is energize the relay coil, wich then closes your contacts and sends power to the fan motor. Simple and will work for those guys trying to figure this out like me.

Here is a relay that will work.

I'd do what I could to keep it as close to that halfway line as possible. The consensus (mostly Chrysler techs) pretty much agree that sustained temps over 215* is enough to expand the aluminum heads enough to drop a valve seat. Which is what happened to my 4.7 HO. I've NEVER had what you would call an "overheat". It just wanted to run at about 215* all summer with the A/C on...

My truck has only gotten that hot once since I did the mark vIII conversion and that was when the fan blew out a 80 amp relay (104amp startup draw on the Mark VIII btw). Now that I have 2 150 amp peak 80 amp continuous relays in the truck doesn't go much about 190 even with a/c running, hauling a load, sitting in traffic with it 100 out. Alfons has been holding my hand basically on how to make a controller for the fan. I'm thinking about adding a 2nd fan just for the condenser so I'm not cycling on the mark vIII fan so much.

Jeremy, do you have any pictures of the Mark 8 fan installed?
