Default Too hot?

Hey guys! For the last couple of days my truck's fan is been a little louder that usual. I have never paid attention to it but i looked today at my temp gauge and it was a little too high than usual..

What do you think??

That's where mine sits if it's not hot outside. When it's hot it'll go up a little bit over half and drop down. That had me scared enough to order a 180 t-stat.

Your fine. The fans clutch is working correctly, making the fan pull more air (hence, louder).

Do either of you guys know what the stock thermostat is? Ive read on here that a 180 stat is a good idea. I have hood vents and a flexalite E fan...the temp still gets up there. especially towing. have to pull over ocasionally.

I did the 180 and while the gauge does sit lower montering with TOrque doesn't show a difference in coolant temp. With the Mark VIII fan it's never gotten the temp lower then 190.

do you guys see your temp fluctuate a lot? Mine will go about 2 needle widths above the 1/2 way mark, but then if I'm going down a hill at speed it will drop down to 1/4. I've just never seen this happen in any other vehicle except an old s-10 I had and they replaced the water pump as a result.

Mine never fluctuates. Its exactly where your picture shows it, and A/C on or not, it never moves for me.

Mines pretty steady. Had another car once that did what yours is doing and it ended up being the head gasket on its way out.
