IF you happen to have a scan tool, hook it up and if the gauge is reading normal, it might be your PCM. THat is supposedly what is happening to my truck. It has been over a month, and this is where they are at now.

I was reading the FSM last night, and i thought i read somewhere (now i cant find the page) that a bad battery temp sensor on the battery tray can cause certain codes to be or not thrown. I just looked but could not find any type of battery tray sensor though... I believe if the battery temp sensor is reading too high or too low it can effect the readings of the trans temp sensor? I could be wrong but i cant find what page it was to verify this. I need battery cables ASAP, They became extremely corroded over the last time i popped the hood a two months ago, which coincidentally was just before i started getting a tranny light on the dash. I bet my crap cables are screwing up my electrical system, luckly i just ordered a new set. On mopar wholesale parts.com, the negative battery cable item description also says "Part serviced with engine and transmission wiring harness."

OP here....All I did was disconnect my battery, cleaned the terminals and let it sit for awhile, then hooked it back up and havent had any trouble since.

My truck does this as well, for the last year at least, and it just pops out of the blue, happens for a couple of weeks, then I won't see it for months. Usually happens when i am in park, idling. Lasts a 30 seconds tops. I think I have posted about it before as well. I have 116000KM's on my truck, and wouldn't doubt in the least its a way to get people to go to the stealership and get suckered into a tranny service.

My mechanic has been under my truck twice in the last year, replacing my entire front end for the most part, and replacing my brakes all around. I beat the living sh** out of this truck, if I had a leak, or any fluid related issues, he would have noticed, since he checked them all for me. The only "leak" I have is the small lake that is created under my truck once I shut my truck off, and have been running the AC the whole time, which I run wayyyy to often.

Default Transmission Temp light random. Dumb it down.

I racked my brain on this stupid light too. "keep it simple stupid" a Lockheed engineer once said. The I know everything person that I am, It pays to look at the owners manual from time to time. I was incorrectly checking the Trans fluid level the whole time (cold and engine off). There are 7 steps to properly checking the fluid level. Turns out I was checking the fluid the wrong way and I was actually a quart and a half low! That will cause you fluid to heat up! Sure enough, after adding the quart and a half I was low, the problem with the light went away. Lesson learned, don't over analyze the problem.
