Default 2008 Dakota build

Hey I am a new member to the forum. I have a black 2008 dodge dakota SLT 4x4. It has a brushguard and dual out flowmaster. I want to get it lifted and put some new wheels on it and i was wondering a.) what would be the best lift to get for about 2 inches of total lift in the front, b.)what would be a good rim width, and c.) whould 18s with 275 tires work?

For a lift its Suspension (6inch only), Body lift or Leveling kit,
For a leveling kit dont go over 2 with a 4x4, 2.5+ can cause CV Bind and other issues I heard, Im running a 1.5 on my 2wd.
Currently im Running stock size tires, so I cant help you with that. Stock Rim width is 7 (Steels) or 8 (Alloys) I believe.

Daystar seems to be the popular 2" kit.

A 9" wheel will work for a 275 tire, but 275/?/18? And with a 9" wide wheel, what's the offset? That makes a huge difference, regarding tire fitment on our Dakotas.

If they said they 'have' to put in a 2.5" kit, I would find another shop.

With a 4WD, it's best not to go bigger than a 2" leveling kit. The CV joints are put at a bad angle with anything larger than a 2" kit. You can put it on and be fine for a while, but it could cause problems soon after installation.

Your offset will depend on the width of the wheel that you are choosing. But you can pretty much go with an offset of 18 (with a 8" or 9" wide wheel), which is widely available with aftermarket wheels.

You can check out this thread to see what tire would be best for you.

Thanks yea i thought that would be the case. hopefully they will just put a 2 inch lift on it but if not i will go somewhere else. I plan on getting kd rims so i will check and see if they have that combination for my truck. what tire size would fit onto the 9 inch wheel? thanks again

Welcome to the forum. If you plan on doing any offroading at all, do not put a 2.5" kit on it. It will destroy the front end the first time you try to flex it. Even 2" is pushing it. I had a 2" on mine, but I never went offroading and I had already replaced everything in the front with better aftermarket parts.
