Once I got my tranny built and added the 3000 stall it was over heating. I got a tranny cooler from Earls (looks like a mini intercooler) tranny doesn't get hot anymore.

Do you have a factory tow package and factory hd cooling on it now? If not, have you considered just putting that setup in it? Mine came with that and I've never had an issue with overheating. Not even with 5000lbs in tow on a hot day. At least it would all be bolt in parts.

i have a question on this aux tranny cooler. how hard is it to install? it gets hot here in texas and i have taken good care of the tranny so far as far as fluid changes but i know a hot day can ruin all that. does all the fluid have to be drained to install the cooler? never dealt with one so i have no idea what kind of project im looking at.

You do not need to drain all the fluid to install.
Most of the aftermarket ones just have the push on and clamp style connections.
It's not hard at all.

You shouldn’t have any problems there in Fort Worth. I grew up in the Valley(about 500 miles south of where you’re at). I didn't have any problems with my05 Dakota.
