Talking HIPOTEK! Another happy member!

So as some of you know I had the idle issues with the fastman like a couple others on here did which in turn caused me to give up and sell the fastman as is/was while going back to stock. Shortly there after Hipotek was becoming more familiar and a solution to the guys that had the same issue as me. A year and some monthes later (NOW) I purchased a Hipotek off of another fellow DFer, Wingman. I received it Friday! Well I couldn't wait to put it on so I pulled the nose of the truck into the garage and swapped out the stock tb for this Hipotek Somewhat skeptical/fearful I would encounter the same searching idle as I did before (that my truck didnt care for TBs), I reset the PCM and assured that everything was installed. I fired the truck up and I did not have a single surge in the idle. I have been driving it around since Friday and its pretty awesome! Still no issues to count for and I dont think I will either. The truck seems to have more low end grunt, and I only base this off of the butt dyno, the throttle responsiveness, and the hill that I climb everyday to get to my house. The truck no longer shifts down in lack of power to climb the hill. I must say, I am very satisfied with this TB! I'd recommend it to any other Dak owner. The workmanship on the Hipotek may not be as shiny as the Fastman, but it is at least legit/correct/precise/etc and it appears well made

Sounds like another satisfied Hipotek customer for sure. I don't know why this is not on my truck already, looks like a spring mod. I'll probably just pick up the 68.5mm TB, unless someone convinces me to go with the 70mm.

I would have added a smile, but this thread is at it's smiley limit already!

I'm happy it worked well for you.

I felt the same increase in low end grunt but not too much in top end power.

It would surge from idle: 750 up to 1100 or so while in park after a normal drive then putting it in park. Heck, having the wheel turned a slight bit after putting it in park caused it to start surging at times. It would also start surging after a rev while in park like you said. Drove me crazy. I never noticed a surging while in gear as of then, but I only ran it a week or so. I felt it shouldnt have done it. so I ended my venture with it. I tried blaming the IAC or TPS, I tried blaming the shaft end being slightly tweaked, which it wasnt... ultimately, I think the plates were to small for the tb thus causing more air to pass by, and the IAC couldnt compensate.

I called HiPoTek before I ordered, and he said there is a slight gain in the 70mm over the 68.5, and the MAF could handle the change and PCM would balance the fuel for the difference. I would like to do forced induction in the future and for the same price, I wouldnt have to upgrade again.
